Seattle rockers Pearl Jam continued a tour of South America on Wednesday at Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The band delivered a 29-song performance in Rio that saw them joined by Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers at points during the nearly three-hour show.

Pearl Jam opened with “Release,” one of seven songs from their debut album Ten they would perform at the famed Maracanã. Eddie Vedder also dug into Vs. and Yield with five songs a piece from those LPs. Vedder talked to the crowd throughout the night often speaking Portuguese for the locals. The vocalist dedicated “Wishlist” to the Red Hot Chili Peppers after telling the audience that band has “thousands of good songs.”

Soon thereafter, Eddie Vedder welcomed RHCP drummer Chad Smith from the wings of the stage to add cowbell to “Can’t Deny Me,” the band’s recent single. Then, Pearl Jam brought their 18-song main set to a close with “Porch.” Vedder & Co.’s lengthy encore saw the vocalist talk about the power and vitality of women in art and society ahead of a cover of Holland/Holland/Dozier’s “Leaving Here.” The penultimate song of the evening was a cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” that saw Chad Smith return to join Matt Cameron on drums and Josh Klinghoffer add an additional guitar to the mix. Pearl Jam ended the night with a “Yellow Ledbetter” in which Vedder hopped off the stage and into the crowd.

Pearl Jam concludes their South American tour on Saturday at Lollapalooza Brazil.
