The mother of 38-year-old Cecilia Haddad says she “does not know if [she] will survive the tragedy” of her daughter’s suspected murder.
Ms Haddad, a Brazilian national who lived in Ryde, was found floating in the Lane Cove River near Woolwich in Sydney’s north on Sunday, after she was reported missing by friends on Saturday.
While police initially believed the she may have drowned accidentally, her death is now being treated as suspicious.
Writing in Portuguese from her home in Rio de Janeiro, Milu Muller told Fairfax Media of her distress since learning of her daughter’s sudden death.
“I would love to be there with my beloved and adored daughter, but I had cardiac surgery and I still do not have [my] doctor’s permission for long flights,” Ms Muller said in her email, which has been translated into English.
